Manbags: Cheeky Limericks Reveal Resistance to Trend
Despite what the fashion experts may say about the popularity of stylish “manbags”, handbag.com has discovered that resistance to the trend still runs deep, even in the stylish media industry...
As part of promotional activity surrounding May’s “National Handbag Month”, the sales team at top women’s website handbag.com have invited their agency contacts to join in the fun by contributing a limerick on the subject of manbags or handbags.
For the chance to win a Miu Miu handbag, or an iPod, Xbox 360 Console and a Ferrari experience day, entrants had to complete the following limericks:
Ode to a Handbag
There was a young lady called Kate
Who needed some tips for her date...
Ode to a Man-bag
There was a young man called Tag,
Who loved his new, chic, man-bag...
Alicen Stenner, Group Digital Marketing Director, said:
“We were particularly amused by the number of people who think that manbags are still just a bit girly. National Handbag Month has been a great opportunity to see just how much women love their bags – I think men who believe you can’t be macho and carry a stylish bag are missing out! But we have been delighted with all the limericks sent in, there’s clearly loads of literary talent out there, even if most of them were too smutty to print...”

A Selection of the Limericks Submitted:
There was a young man called Tag,
Who loved his new, chic, man-bag,
It went well with his dresses,
And long flowing tresses,
Whenever he stepped out in drag
Adam Crispin, Bray Leino
There was a young man called Tag,
Who loved his new, chic, man-bag,
He went on a date,
And assumed he looked great,
But the girl thought he'd come in drag.
Matt Brayley, Bray Leino
There was a young man called Tag,
Who loved his new, chic, man-bag,
He was sexually active,
So stocked it with contraceptive,
In case he got a girl home for a... cuddle
John Graeme Campbell, Outrider
There was a young lady called Kate
Who needed some tips for her date,
"For the ultimate style
take a Fendi and smile
And don’t forget to be fashionably late"
TBC
There was a young lady called Kate
Who needed some tips for her date,
So she called up her ex
Who said ‘you don’t need condoms for sex’
A mistake, she’s now 3 weeks late!
